The Original Fishing Armory Bullet Lure

Every lure has a story. Ours started in 2016 with a spent .30-06 casing lying on the garage floor.

I was getting my gear together for a Northern California rockfish trip, sorting through tackle boxes and deciding what tackle I wanted to bring. While moving boxes around, I spotted the empty casing. I picked it up, looked at it for a second, and thought, "All this needs is a hook."

That simple idea and a little experimentation lead to the very first Fishing Armory Bullet Lure. It was nothing fancy—a spent .30-06 casing rigged with 100-pound braided Dacron, a mini squid skirt, and a treble hook.

The next morning, we headed offshore to fish for rockfish. Like always, I started with my proven setups: one rod rigged with a diamond jig and another with a swimbait. Fishing was steady, but a bit slow. After catching a few rockfish, curiosity got the best of me and I tied the Bullet Lure on as a teaser about 18 inches above my diamond jig and sent it back down.

On the very first few drops, something surprising happened. Instead of hitting the jig, the rockfish kept hitting the Bullet Lure. Fish after fish came over the rail with the little homemade bullet lure. Before long, my buddy Randy asked for one.

A few drifts later, he hooked and landed the first lingcod ever caught on one of our Bullet Lures.

That was the moment I realized this wasn't just a cool-looking lure—it actually out fished the tackle we'd trusted for years.

Fishing Armory was born that day. Since then, we've spent years refining the original design while expanding our lineup for anglers chasing everything from trout and bass to rockfish, lingcod, halibut, and other saltwater species.
